Climate Change Disaster
This month thousands of farm animals as well as wildlife in Australia, have lost their lives because of drought, floods and fire. On outback farms and stations entire herds of cattle have died from exposure following years of drought then sudden floods with cold weather. Sheep, cattle and horses, have become stuck in mud and cannot be rescued because of the condition of the land. Even farm dogs have been lost. In other areas bush fires have reduced homes and properties to ashes. Families and whole communities are facing desperate times and children as well as adults, are stressed and worried, not knowing how they can survive such disaster.
Children everywhere are concerned about animal welfare as well as what is happening to people and will join in rescue efforts and raise money to help provide food, medicines and shelter. What Is your child’s school doing to help? Discuss ideas with your child/children and help the teachers to plan an event, a day or to gather resources to help the victims. Be sure to send your donation to a registered charity or bank so that every cent will do good.
